Motion
A change in the position of an object with respect to time. Motion is described in terms of displacement, distance (scalar), velocity, acceleration, time and speed.
Types of motion:-
1) Rectilinear motion (1D)
2) Motion in Plane (2D)
3) Motion in Space (3D)
Rectilinear Motion (1D)
Only one coordinate axis (Ex: X-axis) along with time to describe the motion of a particle it is said to be in linear/straight line motion or rectilinear motion. (motion along a straight line)
Examples of Rectilinear Motion (1D)
Ex:- Parade of soldiers,
2)A train moving on track,
3)Car moving on road etc
4) Rectilinear Propagation of Light
2) Motion in Plane (2D)
The motion of a rigid body such that all its points move parallel to some fixed plane. Such motion is composed of translational motion together with rotational motion.
Ex:- circular motion, projectile motion, etc
An insect crawling on the wall of the room.
Motion in Space(3D)
The motion of the earth and other solar system they travel through space with the sun.
