Melde’s Experiment

Aim :- Arrange the tunning fork for parallel position. Take two different reading by changing the

tension and keeping the length of String constant. Write your conclusion.

Apparatus : Electronic vibrator , a light in extensible string ,pan , Fractional weight box ,etc.

Observation :-

i. mass per unit length of string = m= 2.03 x10-3 g/cm

ii. Vibrating length of string =l =100cm.

iii. Mass of empty scale pan= mo= 3 g.

Result 1) As tension in the string increases no. of loop on the string decreases
